People involved in this project: Furlan Axel, Galbiati Andrea. The aim of this project is to design and develop two electronic boards capable to control the electro-mechanic components of the Alpaca Golf Cart. The first board, called Steerottle, controls the steering mechanism and the digital potentiometer MCP41010 used to control the Cart's throttle. The second board will read the signals generated by the rear wheels in-house-built "encoders", and will compute the cart odometry. Both boards will interface with a PC with an USB tunneling of the RS232 serial communication protocol. In order to simplify the project and to lighten the boards from the handling of the USB stack, this tunneling is performed with an FTDI chip. The videos hereafter show preliminary results (September 2010).
